FAQ
How is the Northern Ireland COVID vaccine queue position estimated?
The calculator assigns the highest matching 2021 JCVI priority band from age, occupation, and clinical_vulnerability, then ranks inside that band with older people first. queue_position is one plus people in earlier bands and older people in the current band.
What happens if age is outside 0 to 120?
The task fails with invalid_input and the message that age must be between 0 and 120. Invalid input is not billed.
Which occupations map to the earliest JCVI bands?
care_home_staff maps to band 1 with care-home residents. frontline_health_social_care maps to band 2 with people aged 80 and over. unpaid_carer maps to band 6 for people aged 16–64 unless an earlier age or clinical rule already applies.
Does clinically extremely vulnerable status move someone earlier?
Yes. clinically_extremely_vulnerable places people in band 4 unless they already qualify for band 1, 2, or 3. underlying_condition places people aged 16–64 in band 6 unless an earlier rule applies. Children under 16 stay in the paediatric bands unless they are care-home residents.
Is this an official waitlist, and what does it cost?
No. It is an educational reconstruction of frozen 2021 Northern Ireland cohort sizes, not medical advice and not a Health and Social Care booking tool. The browser tool is free. API requests use prepaid KIT balance at $0.002 per successful call; invalid input is not billed.
For developers — API access
Everything on this page is available programmatically. This section is for teams who want to wire it into their own systems; everyone else can just use the tool above.
API endpoint
Prefer to automate it? One authenticated POST creates the task; the result comes back by webhook or a signed link. The same capability also runs here on the web, by email and from Telegram — and soon from our app too.
