Raw dog food calculator
Raw-fed dogs are commonly portioned as a percentage of current body weight rather than from a kibble bag's calorie table.
Run — free
This raw dog food calculator takes a strictly positive body weight in kilograms and a feeding percentage, converts that percentage of body mass into grams, and returns the recommended daily raw portion. A twenty kilogram adult at two point five percent receives five hundred grams per day; a growing puppy at a higher percentage receives more relative to mass. A zero, negative, or non-finite weight fails with invalid_input and is not billed. The free browser widget and the API share one pure module, so a kennel spreadsheet and an automation job never disagree on the same dog. Treat the result as a planning estimate for BARF and prey-model households, not as a complete nutrient profile or a diagnosis that replaces a veterinarian who can examine body condition, growth, and the balance of muscle, bone, and organ in the bowl.
How to use it
Enter your values in the form above. The tool checks them before calculating and shows the result on the same page.
Check your inputs
Use the labels and units shown next to each field. If something is missing or outside the allowed range, the page points to the field to fix.
Use it again or automate it
Use the browser tool for individual checks and the API when you need the same capability in an automated workflow.
What you can do with it
Get an answer now
Enter one set of values and see the result without building a spreadsheet or script.
Compare scenarios
Change one value at a time and rerun the calculation to understand what affects the result.
Automate repeated work
Use the API when the same calculation needs to run inside your product or workflow.
FAQ
How do I calculate how much raw food my dog should eat each day?
Send a positive body weight in kilograms and a feeding percent of current body weight. The API returns grams_per_day as weight times percent times ten. Use about 2.5 for a typical adult and a higher percent for a growing puppy.
What feeding percentage should I use for an adult versus a puppy?
Adult maintenance is commonly two to three percent of current body weight. Weight loss often uses one and a half to two percent; active or underweight dogs may need three to four. Puppies often sit between five and ten percent of current weight, not expected adult weight.
What happens if weight is zero or negative?
The task fails with invalid_input. Weight must be a finite positive number in kilograms; a missing, zero, negative, or non-numeric value is rejected and is not billed.
Is the raw portion a complete BARF recipe or a veterinary diagnosis?
No. It is a mass estimate from body weight and a feeding percent. Muscle, bone, organ balance, calcium, and calories still need a nutritionist or veterinarian. Pair the number with body condition and a hands-on exam.
What does the raw dog food calculator cost?
The browser tool is free. API requests use prepaid KIT balance at $0.002 per successful call; invalid input is not billed.
For developers — API access
Everything on this page is available programmatically. This section is for teams who want to wire it into their own systems; everyone else can just use the tool above.
API endpoint
Prefer to automate it? One authenticated POST creates the task; the result comes back by webhook or a signed link. The same capability also runs here on the web, by email and from Telegram — and soon from our app too.
