How do I calculate how much water my dog should drink each day?
Send a positive body weight in kilograms and an optional activity factor. The API returns intake_ml as sixty millilitres per kilogram per day times the factor. Omit the factor to use maintenance at one.
What activity factor should I use?
Use 1 for rest or typical indoor life, about 1.2 to 1.5 for moderate play and outdoor time, and 2 or more for sporting, heat, or heavy work. The calculator rejects factors above 5.
What happens if weight is zero or negative?
The task fails with invalid_input. Weight must be a finite positive number in kilograms; a missing, zero, negative, or non-numeric value is rejected and is not billed.
Is sixty millilitres per kilogram a veterinary diagnosis?
No. It is a widely taught adult-dog maintenance teaching rate. Illness, diet moisture, climate, and lactation change real drinking. Pair the number with observed intake and a veterinarian when something looks off.
