This air conditioner room-size calculator converts three positive dimensions—floor area, ceiling height, and a sun exposure factor—into the cooling capacity you need in British thermal units per hour. The method is a volume-based rule of thumb: cubic footage times 2.5 BTU per cubic foot (the 20 BTU per square foot guide at an eight-foot ceiling) times the sun factor, so a sunny west-facing studio needs more capacity than a shaded interior of the same footprint. Use the free browser widget to size a window unit or mini-split before you shop, then call the same pure function from quoting tools and intake forms. Identical inputs always produce identical BTU per hour; there is no network, no clock, and no model drift between the public page and the API.
