In the summer of 2020 the U.S. House had passed the Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solutions Act, known as the HEROES Act, while Senate Republicans offered the Health, Economic Assistance, Liability Protection and Schools Act, known as the HEALS Act.

Both titles included a second round of recovery rebates—stimulus checks—built on the CARES Act adult amount of one thousand two hundred dollars and the same five-percent phase-out of adjusted gross income. They split on dependents: HEALS kept five hundred dollars for every dependent of any age, while HEROES paid one thousand two hundred dollars per dependent and capped that add-on at three. This calculator takes filing status, income, and a dependents count, returns both proposed amounts and the signed difference of HEROES minus HEALS, and rejects a negative dependents count instead of inventing a rebate. The same pure parse module powers the free browser widget and the API, so a worksheet and an automation never disagree on the comparison.

The API is asynchronous: the call returns a task_id immediately and the result arrives by webhook. Polling is capped at 1 req/s per task.

Errors
