Price per linear foot calculator

Fence installers, flooring shops, fabric retailers, and millwork suppliers still price many goods by the running foot, yet the number on a quote, remnant tag, or invoice is almost always a total for a measured piece.

This price per linear foot calculator converts that total and a length given in whole feet plus leftover inches into a single unit price you can compare across vendors, leftover rolls, and cut lists. The engine is deterministic finite arithmetic: inches become a twelfth of a foot, those feet add to the whole-foot part, and the total price is divided by that length. A board twelve feet six inches long that costs two hundred forty currency units is twelve and a half feet, so the unit price is nineteen point two per linear foot. When the converted length is zero the request fails with invalid input because a unit price is undefined without a positive run. Use the free browser widget on this page, or the prepaid API at $0.002 per successful item when a quoting tool needs the same contract.

How to use it

Enter your values in the form above. The tool checks them before calculating and shows the result on the same page.

Check your inputs

Use the labels and units shown next to each field. If something is missing or outside the allowed range, the page points to the field to fix.

Use it again or automate it

Use the browser tool for individual checks and the API when you need the same capability in an automated workflow.

Get an answer now

Enter one set of values and see the result without building a spreadsheet or script.

Compare scenarios

Change one value at a time and rerun the calculation to understand what affects the result.

Automate repeated work

Use the API when the same calculation needs to run inside your product or workflow.

How do I use this capability?
