Factoring a quadratic trinomial is the Algebra 1 skill of rewriting a times x squared plus b times x plus c as a product of two linear binomials whenever rational coefficients allow it.

Students first hunt integer pairs for monic trinomials, then use the AC method when the leading coefficient is not one. This factoring trinomials calculator accepts the three finite coefficients, searches for a binomial pair whose product recovers the original polynomial, and returns that pair in a stable classroom order. When no such pair exists it reports the trinomial as irreducible instead of inventing square-root or complex factors that the lesson has not introduced. A zero leading coefficient is rejected because the expression would no longer be quadratic. The same deterministic function powers the free browser widget and the paid API, so homework checks and answer keys never disagree on the same a, b, and c.
