Below roughly eighty percent state of charge many packs can accept near-peak power; above that threshold the battery management system ramps power down to protect cells, so the last twenty percent often takes as long as the middle of the curve. A flat hours equals energy over peak power estimate therefore understates real stop time whenever the session crosses the taper region. This EV fast charge time with taper calculator accepts usable pack capacity in kilowatt-hours, peak DC rate in kilowatts, and optional from and to state-of-charge percents, then applies a deterministic piecewise model: constant peak power until the taper start, then a linear decline of power toward a configurable fraction of peak at one hundred percent. The response reports tapered hours and minutes, the naive constant-peak baseline, and the extra minutes the taper adds so trip planners, fleet tools, and drivers can compare optimistic versus realistic dwell times without guessing from a brochure curve.
