FAQ
How does the coffee kick calculator estimate hours until caffeine wears off?
Send cups, caffeine_per_cup in milligrams, and metabolism_rate (1 = typical adult 5-hour half-life). The API multiplies cups by milligrams, then returns hours until remaining caffeine falls to 25 mg under first-order clearance.
What happens if the caffeine amount is negative?
The task fails with invalid_input. A negative caffeine_per_cup cannot produce a meaningful duration and is not billed.
What does metabolism_rate mean?
It is relative clearance versus a typical adult. 1 means a 5-hour half-life, 2 means twice as fast (2.5-hour half-life), and 0.5 means slower (10-hour half-life). It must be a finite positive number.
Is this medical advice or a laboratory half-life assay?
No. It is a deterministic first-order planning estimate against a 25 mg remaining threshold. Real timelines vary with absorption, sleep pressure, smoking, pregnancy, and liver function; use a clinician when you need personal medical guidance.
What does the coffee kick calculator cost?
The browser tool is free. API requests use prepaid KIT balance at $0.002 per successful call; invalid input is not billed.
For developers — API access
Everything on this page is available programmatically. This section is for teams who want to wire it into their own systems; everyone else can just use the tool above.
API endpoint
Prefer to automate it? One authenticated POST creates the task; the result comes back by webhook or a signed link. The same capability also runs here on the web, by email and from Telegram — and soon from our app too.

Errors
| HTTP | Code | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
401 | unauthorized | Missing or invalid API key. |
