Coaches, scorekeepers, fantasy managers, and students need that ratio from two counting stats: hits and at-bats. This batting average calculator divides hits by at-bats and rounds the quotient to three decimals, matching the published convention that writes three-for-ten as .300 rather than as thirty percent. An at-bat total of zero is rejected because the average would divide by zero. Hits that exceed at-bats are rejected because official scoring cannot produce that pair. The same pure arithmetic powers the free browser widget and the API, so a check on the landing page matches a later script. Successful calls are billed at $0.002; invalid input is not charged.

The API is asynchronous: the call returns a task_id immediately and the result arrives by webhook. Polling is capped at 1 req/s per task.
