This average molecular speed calculator returns the mean molecular speed of gas particles from kinetic molecular theory given a molar mass and an absolute temperature.

The classic identity is v-bar equals the square root of eight R T over pi M, where M is molar mass in kilograms per mole, T is temperature in kelvin, and R is the universal gas constant in joules per mole-kelvin. You supply molar mass in the familiar grams-per-mole table unit and temperature in kelvin; the engine converts mass to SI, evaluates the closed-form square root, and returns the mean speed in metres per second. Textbook checks include oxygen near thirty-two grams per mole at two hundred ninety-eight kelvin yielding roughly four hundred forty-four metres per second, and hydrogen near two point zero one six grams per mole near the ice point yielding about one thousand six hundred ninety-four metres per second. Zero or negative molar mass is rejected because mass under the square root must be positive for a physical pure gas. The path is fully deterministic arithmetic with no network calls, no Monte Carlo sampling, and no date-dependent shortcuts.
