Supported systems are parts per million as calcium carbonate, milligrams per liter, grains per US gallon, and German degrees of hardness. For dilute aqueous solutions one part per million equals one milligram per liter, one grain per gallon equals 17.1 parts per million, and one German degree equals 17.8 parts per million, so every conversion bridges through a single ppm intermediate with fixed factors. Everyday aliases such as mg/L, gpg, grains, °dH, and deutsche haerte are accepted so lab printouts, softener manuals, and spreadsheet cells can share one contract. Conversion uses only finite arithmetic with no network calls, no sampling, and no date-dependent shortcuts. Typical checks include one hundred parts per million to grains per gallon and ten German degrees back to milligrams per liter. The API is asynchronous: the call returns a task_id immediately and the result arrives by webhook. Polling is capped at 1 req/s per task.
