dBm means decibels relative to one milliwatt, while dBW means decibels relative to one watt, so the two scales differ by a fixed thirty-decibel offset: one watt is one thousand milliwatts, and ten times the base-ten log of one thousand is exactly thirty. The conversion is fully deterministic: dBW equals dBm minus thirty. Common checks include thirty dBm yielding zero dBW, zero dBm yielding negative thirty dBW, and forty dBm yielding ten dBW. The engine uses only finite arithmetic with no network calls, no sampling, and no date-dependent shortcuts.
